What is established

Money journey: what is documented

What the money tells us
The City register lists a €38,357,926.82 project value, €25,409,214.67 in eligible costs and €15,245,528.80 in awarded grant funding. Eligible costs and grants concern the same project and are not added to its total value. The register is not a certified paid-to-date account or final cost. Its planned project end is 31 December 2026, not evidence that remediation is complete. The sources establish no additional transport-cost or subsidy amount for neighbouring towns.
Figures have different purposes and periods. They should not automatically be added together or treated as losses.
Read the full explanation
Karepovac remediation and access for neighbouring towns’ waste are different issues. HRT’s 22 August 2026 report records neighbouring utilities’ objections to losing access and an extension of disposal access to 1 September 2026. Arrangements after that deadline are unverified. Split’s project register shows a remediation budget, not a final account. Delays at the separate Lećevica centre matter for regional capacity, but a service-access dispute does not establish that the remediation funding was wasted.
